I hear one more person say, "You have to feel complete in yourself before you can be in a relationship with someone else." Or, the "Christianese" version: "You have to be content in this season of singleness before God will give you a relationship."
Sorry for the break from Total Truth. It just struck me today what an absurd sentiment this really is. I may elaborate more later, if my brain ever recovers from 89 kids at VBS today -- and that includes 29 preschoolers!!

whatever!
that's how i would respond to such statements
Agreeeddd!!!!
yeah that's totally barf-worthy
that's incredibly manipulative of God if it's the truth...besides, the very people I hear say this are dear friends I KNEW when they were single and were not trophies of contentment...it's a bit like saying, "If you do everything right, God will bless you" Bad theology
yeah, it has NOTHING to do with your attitude, and EVERYTHING with God's sovereignty!
I have a married friend who said that she really hurts for some girls in her small group (she never gave names, and I don't know who the girls are in her SG--so it wasn't gossiping) that yell at their husbands or are just really mean. And my thought was, "I'm not even like that, so why can't i be married" and my friend said, "Leslie, it has nothing to do with the way you are, but with God's sovereignty"

What if? What if you died at this moment?
what if everything could end right this second?
Would you be firm in your faith to know that your eternal life is secure in God?
Would you be satisfied with your where you were at?
Would God?
It just makes you look over your life and realize how fleeting it is. How short the amount of times you inhale is before you breathe your last breath, before time is no longer a factor. And why its so important that you live for God, and not for yourself.
I dont really know what else to say. There isnt much else to say, I guess.
Your life is meaningful; you are meaningful. Your time here is precious, dont waste it away. God has a plan for your life. He does. Follow through.
followthrough.. to bring glory.
the reason i say this is that last night, one of my friends brother was hit and killed by a semi truck while fxing a flat tire.
like, when i finally sat down in the quiet, my mind went crazy, and it was sort of a reality check to me. who do I live for? What do I live for?
surely a question i should ask myself alot more frequently. alot. more.
kepp this family in your prayers please. this is a prayer blog isnt it?
Being married, I can now give a little wisdom here. I was definitely not a trophy of contentment during my single days. I am still not, and I'm married! Yet God blessed me in spite of me (is that not ALWAYS the case?). In fact, God used "the broken road" to prepare me for who I am with now. I can say that with an honest heart. If you know me, what I just said will carry a lot more weight. Your singleness is not based on YOU. What a selfish mindset! You are single because King Jesus, in this particular season, is taking pleasure in your sanctification. And you should worship Him for protecting you from every mistake you could have made.
Are you back in Louisville, or what?

Wait a second here...RUSS!! Did I know you got married? I don't think I knew that!
CONGRATS!!!!!
Are you coming back?!
I thought you'd quit blogging or something.
But yeah, I've known to many married people to believe that when a single person reaches a state of total content, or wisdom, or strength, God then blesses them with a spouse.
I think that our response to God's grace and mercy in the face of our undeservedness and impending judgment should be the same whether married or not.

Some people mean well, but just don't know when to stop talking!!
So it's been almost two months since we heard any words of wisdom from you. What's up with that. We're all busy, so come on. Get with the program. We're starving out here!
